Community Dermatology - Referral Criteria

We cannot see 2 week waits (2ww) and these should be referred via the separate 2ww pathway. We can see the majority of other dermatology conditions, but currently do not have the capacity to see patients urgently. The following are conditions that need to be seen by a consultant dermatologist as will be triaged as such:

-Erythroderma / severe generalised exfoliative dermatitis.

-Immunobullous disease.

-Eczema Herpeticum.

-Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome.

-Severe Drug Eruptions.

-Stevens Johnsons Syndrome & Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis.

-Acute flare of severe eczema / psoriasis.

-Basal Cell Carcinomas

If you are concerned that your patient needs to be seen urgently, please consider consultant direct.

If you are referring a skin lesion, please include as much detail as possible to allow triage to the appropriate service.
